Family First

From our family to yours, a dream home to suit your unique budget and lifestyle

As a local, family-owned and run company, we understand what the Great Australian Dream truly means for people looking to get into their own home.

In fact, the very first home that founder Gary Simonds ever built was for his Mother back in 1949, after seeing first-hand how difficult it was for her to get into her dream home.

Beginning as an apprentice carpenter, before gaining experience as a building supervisor and then later going into business for himself, Gary continued the proud tradition of fine craftsmanship that began with his great, great grandfather.

While Gary’s first home, built in Melbourne’s inner-west suburb of Altona, might look very different to the homes that we’re building for customers all over Australia today, at its heart, it encompasses the core commitment that continues to drive us, day in and day out.

The commitment that the Great Australian Dream is about more than just bricks and mortar.

It’s about creating a home that allows families to evolve, thrive and embrace their way of life. It’s about understanding their unique needs through personalised service that goes above and beyond expectations.

This personalised service has formed the building blocks of the Simonds commitment right from the beginning. Believe it or not, Gary used to personally inspect every Simonds home himself before handing over the keys, ensuring that each customer was happy with their new home.

Nowadays, the over 50,000 Australians that we’ve helped get into their own home are a testament to Gary’s initial promise, gifted from son to mother, and his unwavering dedication to taking families on the journey of realising their Great Australian Dream.

Supporting Local Communities

At Simonds, we think big, but act local

Beyond understanding what families across Australia want and need in their home, this personalised service and strong family connection have allowed us to create and nurture long-standing relationships with our local trades, suppliers and communities.

Over the last seven decades, we’ve seen smaller competitors come and go, almost as quickly as shag carpet trends from the 1970s. But we’ve continued to grow, and our well-established trade and supply networks have become a well-oiled machine, ready to take on any task, from first homes to investment properties and luxurious forever homes with all of the bells and whistles.

Despite the pressures on trades and supplies due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our dedication and long-standing relationships have remained strong, proved by the fact that we handed over the keys to 2,478 homes in 2020 alone.

Being a leading volume builder with big networks and local connections means we’re able to weather any storm, bolstered by the knowledge that we’re supporting the local economy and community at the same time.

From the tradies building your home who live a couple of blocks over, to your window furnishings from Australian and family-owned Lovelight, you can be proud knowing that local heart and soul can be found in every inch, and every nook and cranny, of your new Simonds home.

Our People

Personalised service from our staff who live and work in your neighbourhood

Apart from building local communities from the ground-up, our connections also mean local expertise and tailored advice.

At the beginning of your Simonds journey, you’ll meet with your New Home Specialist. They’ll listen to your needs and help you to choose the perfect floor plan, facade and any structural changes that you’d like to make, all while lining your ducks in a row with your bank and contract.

Our New Home Specialists live and work in their local areas, so they know the neighbourhoods and estates like the back of their hand. Meaning you not only get expert advice, but a friendly face when you bump into each other at your local supermarket or weekend footy match.

Next, you’ll be introduced to your dedicated Customer Relationship Coordinator. They’ll be your go-to point of contact for the rest of your journey, helping to organise your permits, coordinate your Gallery appointment and liaise with Construction Teams to get your block of land prepped and your build file to site.

During this time, you’ll meet with your interior-design qualified Gallery Consultant, and dedicated Tile and Electrical Consultants, to make all of the big decisions when crafting the features, finishes and fixtures of your new home.

Lastly, your dedicated Site Supervisor will start bringing your dream home to life. From slab, to frame and fit-out, they’ll be welcoming you for walk-throughs on-site, sending you regular updates and photos, and answering any questions that you have about the building process. They’ll be with you right up to handing over the keys and your special housewarming gift.

And the personalised service doesn’t stop there. A local Maintenance Supervisor will be back in 3-months time for a routine inspection, ensuring that you have a smooth transition to settling into your new home. And they’ll be just a call or email away on the rare chance that you need help with any issue, no matter how small, in the future.

Not to mention, you can sleep easy knowing that our Lifetime Structural Guarantee will give you a lifetime of confidence as the years tick by, and you spend every Sunday BBQ, festive season and big milestone enjoying your new Simonds home.
