Our Top Tile Picks Inspired by a Tree-Change

We’ve called on the Simonds Gallery Tile Consultants for the contemporary, country-inspired tiles they’re loving at the moment.

From the countryside

into your new Simonds home

This year, the Blockheads have embarked on a tree-change out in the Macedon Ranges, tasked with transforming sprawling country properties across 10 acres of land.

Whether they’re in your bathrooms, your laundry, on living room floors or on a feature kitchen splashback, your tile choices have a huge impact on the look and feel of your home. And as this season of The Block kicks off, our Tile Consultants got to thinking about their top picks from our supplier, National Tiles, that evoke the relaxed way of life that goes hand in hand with country living.

Featuring elements of farmhouse design, rustic finishes and the timeless elegance that you expect from beautiful country properties, our Tile Consultants have created four different palettes, each designed to bring the natural world within your four walls and inspire you on your Gallery journey.

Meet our Tile Consultants

and their Top Country-Inspired Tile Picks

Understated Elegance by Lara

Inspired by farmhouse design, Lara ties these classic elements with corals, rustic tans and leafy greens to bring the outside in. Encaustic tiles, like the Revival Fleur give an elegant floral and hand-crafted look to your space, while connecting to the tone, texture and depth of the Canyon Stone Cove. Lara suggests using the Revival Fleur in your laundry or powder room and placing the Canyon Stone Cove on your floors and in your bathrooms. The Japanese Impression Snow Mk2 bring a sense of freshness with a pop of white, and the warm-toned, feathered edges found on each mosaic stick accentuate the deep rustic and earthy hues found in the Chicago Brick Wrigley.

Bold, Contemporary and Rustic by Krizia (@zia.interior)

As a big fan of rustic design, Krizia provides a sense of comfort and escapism with a palette that blends muted grey hues and matte textured tiles. The terracotta tones of the Moroccan-inspired Marrakech Square Tan Matt bring out the natural warmth of the Laminex oak cabinetry, contrasting against the lightly speckled Pietra Lavica Glacier Herringbone Mosaic, which adds a touch of urban sophistication and organic movement to a feature wall.

Earthy and Eclectic by Kahtea

To draw inspiration for the natural world around us, Kahtea suggests starting your space with the Frammenta Bianco Natural on your floors. The stone-like, pebbled fragments bring depth and texture to your space, while giving you a sophisticated base to build upon with other earthy elements. The soft, light oak of Laminex gives an almost white-washed effect and allows the hero of the palette, the artisanal Pottery Cosmic Natural Matt Tile to shine in an eclectic vertical splashback.

Refined Sophistication by Danica

With sophisticated simplicity in mind, Danica’s palette gives a contemporary look to your country escape. Organic and natural finishes instil your space with a calming feel, while the chiseled edges of the Pietra Di Ostuni replicate the look of authentic travertine, expertly blurring the line between natural surrounds and your living spaces indoors. The marble look of the Bolzano Glass Pixels Calacatta contrast against the grey tones creating a high-impact feature in smaller spaces like a niche or splashback. As a glass mosaic, no sealing is required on the Bolzano Pixels, meaning easier maintenance for you over the years to come!
