Master Ensuites

One of the best parts about building new is that you can create a relaxing master bedroom sanctuary that you’ll look forward to retreating to at the end of a busy day. This of course, extends to the master ensuite. So, whether you’re catching up on some much needed shut-eye, or you’re unwinding with a hot shower before bed, you can have a calming space to call your own.

Just like your master bedroom, the master ensuite is a space that you can design with only you in mind. Away from guests, and other members of the household, your master ensuite is a space that you get to really call your own. It also means that you can style the room to your heart’s content. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can opt for vibrant tiles and luxurious tapware finishes, or if classic and contemporary is more your style, you can play around with timeless hues and subtle hints of texture.

At Simonds, all of our floor plans are designed with a master ensuite already included. We understand that they’re not only a must-have for the modern household, they’re also a value-adding feature of any home. Whether your heart’s set on grand master suites with an open layout, or you prefer to have the entrance to your ensuite tucked away in your walk-in robe for added privacy, we have a layout that will flow with your lifestyle and needs, whatever they may be.

Once you’ve decided on an ensuite layout, our interior design qualified Gallery Consultants will walk you through all of your design options, from double vanities to double rain showers and everything in between. Tucked away from the hustle of the family living and entertaining spaces, your master bedroom becomes the ultimate retreat for when you need to rest and recharge. And each day, as the sun rises and sets, your master ensuite welcomes you and provides an intimate and personal sanctuary where you’re able to disconnect from the chaos.

But in order to truly be able to relax in a space, you need to make it your own. That means exploring your own personal style, by choosing tiles that make you smile and focusing your attention to perfecting each fitting and fixture in your master ensuite.

Let’s find out what style you are below!

Are You Playful and Adventurous?

To embrace a playful look and feel, start with a vibrant terrazzo. The honey and clay flecks found in the Play Dots Multiwhite Matt from National Tiles will enliven your bathroom from the moment you enter. Pair with a feature wall in the Castanho Gloss to evoke that 70s groove, or create a sense of escapism and draw upon the exotic feel of traditional Moroccan riads with the terracotta tones of the Marrakech Tan Matt.

Anchor these tiles with a stunning double vanity in Jarrah Legno from Laminex. The subtle red hues and wood grain profile compliment the warm, earthy tones featured throughout the rest of the room, while simultaneously grounding the matte black tapware from Alder. Synergy is continued with double gothic shaped mirrors and round Tribute Above Counter Basins from Caroma.

Lastly, cement the vanity as a focal point of the room with a Caesarstone benchtop in Empira Black. The dark stone instills an air of mystery into the room, while the natural white veining creates an intriguing detail - mirroring the beautiful, organic subtleties found in mother nature herself.

Continue this flair for storytelling throughout the remainder of your home with Capri flooring from Perfect Timber Floors’ Majestic Collection, a COLORBOND® steel roof in Cove® and Nubrik Spencer Tan bricks from Austral.

These selections come together to evoke a tranquil Moroccan feel, with a playful twist of 70s nostalgia. But dig a bit deeper and you’ll also notice that these hues touch on current trends towards incorporating natural, earthy hues throughout your home. Look to the Living Pigments Laminex Colour Collection 2021, which draws on rich colours from the natural world and shows us that perhaps the best design inspiration has been right under our noses all along. Living Pigments encourages us to blur the boundaries between the inside and the outside world, and embrace hues reminiscent of the sun-drenched shores of the Australian coastline and the stretches of earthy red desert found in the heart of the country.

Are You Sleek and Contemporary?

If playful and adventurous isn’t your style, perhaps sleek and contemporary with subtle hints of texture will be more up your alley.

It might not be loud and vibrant, but the sleek and contemporary look demonstrates that taking inspiration from the natural world around us can manifest in many shapes and forms. To create this modern look and feel, our Gallery Consultants love the Canyon Stone Glacier Matt from National Tiles for a classic base to build upon. Its weathered texture emulates the look of natural stones and minerals, which provides the perfect foundation to start layering different finishes and fittings.

It’s no secret that we love a tiled feature wall and one with the stormy grey Japanese Impression Sky Stick Mosaics will definitely make you do a double-take. Their crackle glaze and kiln-fired earthiness are reminiscent of the Japanese raku ware used in traditional tea ceremonies, and they’re perfect for adding a subtle, antique character to contemporary spaces.

When laid in a vertical stack-bond pattern, they can also be used to accentuate or give the illusion of height in your ensuite space. Feeling lost about tiling patterns? Read our go-to guide here.

Instil a harmonious influence among the glacier grey hues with a honey-toned, natural wood grain vanity in Elegant Oak from Laminex. Pair with a timeless benchtop, like the marble, blue veined Attica White from Caesarstone or the Avenza Bianco from Laminex, to bring an air of sophistication and luxury.

To finish off the room, why not try embedding stems of Australian natives to bring a touch of modern bohemian into your bathroom. Continue the serene, uplifting look throughout the rest of the home with a Silver Perch roof from Monier Concrete, Sanctuary bricks from Austral and Haymes Paint in the colour Aged 4.
